"It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." (Jeremiah 10:23)
Some might question Jeremiah’s words, feeling that since Jehovah gave us free will, he can hardly criticize us for using it. Still, do not forget that free will is a responsibility as well as a gift. We are answerable for the things we choose to say and do. (Romans 14:10) Jesus said: “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” He also said: “Out of the heart come wicked reasonings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thieveries, false testimonies, blasphemies.” (Matthew 12:34; 15:19) Hence, our words and deeds reveal our heart condition. They show what we really are. That is why a wise Christian seeks Jehovah’s guidance in everything. In that way, Jehovah finds him ‘upright in his heart’ and will “do good” to him. (Psalm 125:4) May we never, because of stubbornness or self-indulgence, reject Jehovah’s guidance.

You know what's weird? I was just thinking about all the areas in life which people not only want to be given direction and guidance to improve their performance, but they actually pay professionals to tell them what to do and correct their mistakes. Think about it...
Fitness: people hire trainers & health nutritionists
Sports: professional athletes have coaches & trainers
Education: students request tutors and take prep courses
Business: firms hire PR professionals & financial advisors
Advertising: companies hire investment & marketing analysts
Military: soldiers are required to go thru bootcamp training
Theater: actors take drama classes & study w. acting coaches
Singers: vocalists hire coaches to fine tune their vocal abilities
Musicians: hire teachers to give them music lessons & training
Craftsmen/Artists: take classes & study w. advanced artisans
I could go on and on with the examples...yet, for some reason, most people are repelled by the very thought of having their lives 'directed' and 'corrected' by the greatest teacher and wisest mentor & counsellor a person could ever have in life,...for making their path successful. Odd isn't it?
