Actions Speak Louder Than Words
"Each time someone stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, they send forth a ripple of hope."
(Robert F. Kennedy)
October almost seems to be like "family awareness" month,...not only with the material we've been studying the past few weeks regarding marriage and relationships, but also, with the special Awake! issue this month that focuses on improving family life.
So with that in mind, I'm gonna concentrate on posting yearbook experiences that show examples of married couples and families who've successfully been able to apply Bible principles and achieved good results.
Because hearing counsel is one thing,...but actually seeing the positive results & benefits first-hand, that have been derived by couples and families who've consistently worked hard to apply God's standards in their lives, is much more powerful.
It's pretty obvious that humans have a strong need for rolemodels in life as a source of mutual support and encouragement...because it's much easier to 'do the right thing' when you see that others are actively trying to also. Whereas, on the other hand, it can be very disheartening and discouraging when you see other people failing to apply the Bible's counsel on marriage and family life, (especially if you're trying really hard to).
That's the reason why people tend to feel so 'let down' when they learn that a popular celebrity or politician that they admire, has been living 'a double-life' or acting hypocritically in this area.
Another person's actions really does have an impact on those around them. And can influence the conduct of their peers and others -for the good or the bad...Which is why having positive rolemodels with strong moral values, can be such a powerful force for good, because it motivates others to do the same...(just like that 'ripple effect' described in the quote above)
